Fill candy gift boxes with pretzels or other treats for Dad.

Father’s Day is Sunday, June 20, and if you have no idea what to get Dad this year, don’t panic yet. A great homemade present is always the best gift when it comes to Father’s Day, especially if every other year you’ve gotten him a tie and socks. This year, show him how much you really care by taking the time to make a gift that will spark memories of great times you had together while also letting him indulge in his favorite sweets. Photo boxes make excellent gifts because they bring back memories of past times. They’re a great way to remind Dad how much you love him and he’ll be able to keep the photo box on his desk at work or the dresser in his bedroom. First, have Mom help you find old pictures from when you were younger. Start as far back as you can (preferably when you were born) and find photos of you and your dad together. Arrange the photos one after the other from when you were a baby to the present day. After you have the photos you want to include, purchase a black photography presentation box with a leather lid and fill it with the photos. Tie a colored ribbon around the box before you give it to Dad on Father’s Day.

The second part of this gift involves baking Dad’s favorite sweet treat. If his weakness is chocolate chip cookies, put twice as many chocolate chips as the recipe calls for. If he loves lemon squares, make a big batch and add icing letters that spell out “Happy Father’s Day.” Ask your mom if she has any recipes for sweets that came from his mom. Making his favorite treat just like his mom used to would be extra special. If you aren’t sure of what to make, try making chocolate covered pretzels, brownies, fruit bars, cookies or cupcakes. After the baking is completed, put the treats in candy gift boxes and tie the same colored ribbon you used for the photo box around them.

These homemade presents are sure to be a hit with Dad this year. To top off the great gifts, make him a special card and express to him how thankful you are to be his son or daughter. With candy and photo boxes this Father’s Day will be one he will always remember.
