There will be a packing tape crafting booth at the Avon Duct Tape Festival where attendees can make their own creations.
Avon, Ohio, known as the “Duct Tape Capital” of the world celebrates with a festival every year to honor the popular packing tape as well as the history and heritage of the city. You’ll find the best and most unique duct tape sculptures, fashion, games and even a parade with duct tape floats. This year will be the seventh annual Avon Heritage Duct Tape Festival. It will be an all-weekend event, starting June 18, 2010 at 4:00pm and ending June 20 at 5:00pm.
This year, the theme mixes the 1960s, 70s, and 80s with duct tape and is called Peace, Love and Duct Tape. The first 500 people who visit the festival each day will receive a free roll of duct tape. Visitors can expect to be entertained with a display of retro-themed fashions and sculptures all created with the popular packing tape. Last year’s theme was Mardi Gras and the same artist who crafted the sculptures, Amanda Richardson, will be making this year’s psychedelic creations. There will be live music, games and even craft tables where children and adults can make their own duct tape creations. Local businesses and other groups can make a float for the parade, which will be judged and could win one of six cash prizes. The grand prize for the “tip top tape” duct tape float wins $1,000. The packing tape parade is on Saturday, June 19 at 10:00am.
The Duct Tape Festival is free to attend and will be occurring at the Veteran’s Memorial Park in Avon, Ohio. For more information, visit the Duct Tape Festival Web site.
